I took a break from my campground duties this afternoon after I cleaned the restrooms. I was just going to walk back to the rig but saw that the tide was low when I walked past the stairway. So I walked out to the edge of site #29 in Tillicum Campground to see if there was anything interesting on the beach. We had a good storm blow through; night before last.
I looked south and saw an agate bed south of the rock house. Hhhhmmm, that’s tempting. Then I looked north and saw something big and round out by the water’s edge. THAT’S GOT TO BE A FLOAT! No one was on the beach. We’ve had showers off and on all day. Maybe that’s why it hadn’t been collected yet. Maybe it’s not a float? I made a Bee-line for it! I kept thinking, “Someone has already seen it and went to get help to carry it.” Oh, yeah, it’s a float! Well, if someone shows up and says “Mine”, I’ll relent.
But I won! Nobody was out there! Yippee! It’s the biggest one we’ve found. It’s about 18 inches across, made of plastic and has numbers and Japanese symbols on it. Anybody know what it says?
I passed a few people as I carryied it back to Tillicum Campground.
We were all excited about it. One camper showed me the floats they’d found in the last couple days too.
I passed a lot of glass and plastic bottles on the beach. So after I took the float back to the rig, I went back out to pick up the beach a little.
Some of the bottles have Japanese writing on the metal lids. I’ll post those tomorrow. It got too dark for pix tonight.
