As I go about my, sometimes mundane, life I am struck by the routine of it all. I read scriptures or other history books and wonder how many pages it would take to summarize my life? I guess the significance of the events would be different depending on who is reading it. But, still, there wouldn’t be many earth-shattering events in it; certainly nothing heroic.
I was thinking that slowing down the studying of history helps me to more fully absorb what is going on at that time. So, I’m going to post one scripture a day of the days leading up to the birth of Jesus Christ as it was experienced by the inhabitants of the American continents at that time; as contained in the Book of Mormon. Then I will go about my day. I’ll title it the same as this post, just changing the day, so those uninterested in my religious overtones can ignore them.
Helaman 14: 1-2
“And now it came to pass that Samuel, the Lamanite … said unto them:
Behold, I give unto you a sign; for five years more cometh, and behold, then cometh the Son of God to redeem all those who shall believe on his name.”
Sounds like good news to me! Why were some people not so thrilled?
