I had so much fun watching the white-headed woodpecker couple raise their babies at Rocky Point Campground (on Lake Almanor, California). Both mom and dad brought food. The baby girl was the most aggressive feeder so she fledged first. Then her brother left a day later. I also enjoyed watching mom and dad catch live insects as they started bringing the babies fresh food so they could get used to catching their food when they moved out. They timed their family for when the hex hatch would be going strong when the young were ready to leave the nest. God’s plan is SO amazing!
